Tarragona is located on the sunny ‘Costa Daurada‘, in southern Catalonia. With an inheritance dating back to local tribes, Carthaginians and Romans, it is today a vibrant cultural and economic centre. Don’t miss the ‘human towers’ during Tarragona’s Santa Tecla Festival, but check your hotel availability for the area with enough time in advance.
The ‘human towers’ became so popular all across Catalonia that they can be visited throughout the year at the festival centre ‘Casa de la Festa’. Try the local seafood dishes in El Serrallo fishing district, and don’t miss the wines from the area.
The city was an important provincial capital during Roman times and includes several UNESCO World Heritage sites, with the seaside amphitheatre from the 2nd century being the most relevant. The 12th-century Cathedral of St Mary was built on the site of a former Jupiter temple and a Muslim mosque, and mixes Romanesque and Gothic styles.
Reus Airport is a few kilometres outside the city, while Barcelona El Prat Airport is 90 km away. Tarragona is located near Salou resort, and hotels in the area are also very popular. Whether you need a guest house in the historic centre or a resort on the beach, check out the Tarragona accommodation deals on Booking.com!
Easy to travel from Barcelona. Nice, cosy and small City with grate views and beaches. Lots of history and nice small shops. A Lot cheaper than Barcelona, specially accommodation. Recommend If you want to just realx For few days at The beach and enjoy historical monuments and culture. Also recommend to visit Freixenet winery If you Are travelling Back to Barcelona from Tarragona.

Tarragona was the Roman capital of the Iberian Peninsular so there are a lot of Roman remains, ruins etc. There are also lots of interesting shops and a great market. If you go to the market, look out for the clock at midday.

Tarragona is a beautiful historic city with a lovely coastal backdrop. There are cultural things to do in the town and seaside walks and paella/seafood restaurants by the beach so a great place to combine activities. We've visited three times and been enchanted by the cathedral, local eateries and the countryside. Great to visit with a car or with pets and worth exploring all along the coastline, wetlands to the south and of course more of Catalunya to the North including the famous Sitges en route to Barcelona.

It was easy to walk around and see the sights.
It was easy to walk around and see the sights. Tarragona was a very interesting city. I enjoyed seeing the Mediterranean Sea and the gardens near the old Roman Amphitheatre. I also enjoyed looking at the Roman Circus. We ate at the Forum Restaurant opposite hotel Place de la Font, in the old city square (i.e. Pllace de la Font) . The quality and service at the restaurant was outstanding.
Everything was wonderful, including the breakfasts at hotel de la Font, There is nothing that i would avoid.

Roman sites are interesting but not very well presented.
Roman sites are interesting but not very well presented. Cathedral area is very good. Archeology museum was closed for renovation and. so not much else to see. The town was rather run down and dirty. Parking was a nightmare. We went to Reus which was great - we did the Casa Modernista walk. Final day we went to Sitges and it was great but it was January. I'm sure it gets packed and crazy in summer.

I loved Tarragona.
I loved Tarragona. If you are interested in Roman and Medeival history this is the place for you. Many key Roman structures remain and with the medeival town built right on top of the Roman city, there is just so much history there. I was pleasantly surprised. Many excellent restaurants as well, lovely walking town too, including beachfront.
The apartment was located 10-15 min in walking distance away from the Old Town of Tarragona. 8 min. walking to El Miracle beach, 15-20 min. to L'Arrabassada Beach (the latter is highly recommended!!) A supermarket is also 10-15 min away. We didn't cook anything but the kitchen has got the basic equipment. The furniture was very well maintained. It was very clean and we felt really safe. The "Conserje" Carmen was super nice and always there on working days. The performance/price ratio is perfect !
Location to historical sights, old town, beach all within a 15 minute walk.. hotel was central in plaza corsini where there were lots of bars for sitting & people watching.. self check in was easy (we arrived late) free coffee from machine in reception.. rooms cleaned daily with a great rainfall shower.. all in all for what we paid for 4 nights was great value for money & Tarragona is well worth a visit & a bonus for early April was fab weather☀️
The hotel is in a great location to see the sights of Tarragona, overlooking the Roman ruins and the beach. The hotel was very clean and inviting with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The rooftop bar was a nice spot to enjoy a drink. The pool up there was crowded with limited seating so we went for a swim in the larger second pool located on the ground level which I thought was nicer with the exception of not having the rooftop view.
Jorge and Maria's chalet has rustic charm and offers breath-taking views in a spotless setting. Their warm hospitality sets this place apart. The location balances tranquility and exploration, being a short walk from the beach and a brief drive from vibrant Tarragona. More than a vacation spot, this chalet is a home away from home, promising an unforgettable Spanish getaway. Highly recommended!
We chose the hotel for it's location but the train directly next to the hotel was never the one we needed. The hotel was always swamped with guests trying to check-in and not enough staff. The room was super hot and not that clean. The front desk was okay but the least cheerful or helpful compared to all the other hotels during our two week trip. Sorry but wouldn't recommend.
Pigal is just perfect place in Tarragona. First of all people, totally helpfull and very friendly. The hotel is very close to old town, Central Market and train station, which wad important as we travel with train. The room was very clean and comfortable with good wifi. The hotel has good vibes because of people and retro interiors :)
The location is superb for exploring the old town, beach and other areas. Its also a short walk from the train station but be mindful of all the steps and hills in Tarragona!
The staff were fantastic too. I’m a female solo traveler and they made me feel very safe and looked after.
The pool was also great to enjoy and cool down in.
Located in the Placa de la Font (the main town square) in the centre of Tarragona .Friendly staff. Basic continental breakfast for €4.5. Surrounded by bars and restaurants for lunch & dinner
Well placed to visit Roman amphitheatre, cathedral, beaches etc. Will return...
Price, location (easy to
find within walking to historic centre 15 minutes and 5 minutes to beach), supermarkets within 1-2 blocks, quiet, free secure parking. Note: Take the street entrance beside the Nuria Hotel as it’s not as narrow and access to parking easier.
A nice comfy hotel. The beds are comfortable and the shower is really nice. the staff is very friendly and always helped when I needed them. The hotel is located on the plaza in Tarragona.
The hotel is quite cheap and the rooms are very clean.
Well located hostal near the old center of Tarragona. Room is very basic, but clean and comfortable. Staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast is not included, but there is a cafe in the bottom floor of the hotel that was open early for coffee.
The front desk staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The parking was in a secure lot behind the hotel. Walking distance to the beach (5 min.) and old town (30 min). We had a sea view room, very nice.
Nice hotel in the center of Tarragona, 5-minutes walking from the closest beach "platja del miracle". The staff even offerred free beach umbrella. There was the possibility to eat in the shared kitchen.
Very good localisation! Market is very close to the hotel. You can go to the beach without shoes! Free parking on the street with many free places. The apartment was very quiet.
